Roles: employee and admin
The right surface for the right job.

TapInn has two customer roles: employee and administrator. This page shows who uses the app, who uses the portal, and what each role can do.

Employee

Check-in, breaks, schedule, shift exchange, messages, absence and history in the app.

Admin

Employees, locations, schedule, shift swaps, timesheets, payroll and settings in the portal.

Details

Explained in practice.

Employee

The employee role is built for the working day at the worksite. Everything happens in the app: clocking in, the schedule, shift swaps, absence, messages and your own hours.

Admin

The admin role is for whoever leads the team. In the portal you build the schedule, handle absence and shift swaps, approve hours and run the payroll export.

The same person in both roles

A manager can easily hold both roles. The app is for their own shifts and clocking in, the portal is for the team. Roles are set per employee under Employees in the portal.

Access is controlled by modules

What a role sees also depends on which modules are turned on under Settings → Workspace. If a module is off, it is hidden for everyone.
