In practice

Location-based clock-in, without continuous tracking.

TapInn stores time, place, precision and action for every tap. That is all. No continuous GPS, no movement history, no tracking between shifts. You set the radius per location yourself and test it in the portal before the first check-in.

One radius per workplace

Create the location with its address and set how close the employee must be to tap in. Large construction site, small shop: the radius adapts.

Checked only at the tap

The position is read when the employee presses, compared with the radius, and the result is stored. The app follows nobody through the day.

Test before you roll it out

The geofence test in the portal shows whether a point is inside, and warns if GPS accuracy is too weak to trust.

  • Inside the radius: green confirmation immediately.
  • Outside, or weak GPS: a clear message, and the manager can record it manually if needed.

Geofencing

Is this lawful towards employees?

TapInn processes position only at the moment of the tap and only to confirm attendance, which is a limited and documented purpose. The privacy policy and the data processing agreement describe the processing in detail. What is lawful at your workplace also depends on your own consultation with and information to employees.

Can the manager see where employees are?

No. The manager sees the time and place of every tap, not where anyone is otherwise. No position is read between taps.

What if GPS is inaccurate indoors?

The app shows the precision of the tap. If it is too weak, you can increase the radius on the location, or the manager can add the session manually in the timesheet.
